Welcome to the first edition of "The Dragons' Dispatch"
We're thrilled to share the latest updates from our special hockey team, celebrating the passion, progress, and positive spirit of our incredible athletes.
This season has been particularly exciting, with new players joining our ranks and existing members showing remarkable improvement on the ice. Our dedicated coaches and volunteers continue to foster an environment of encouragement, teamwork, and pure fun. We believe that every player deserves the chance to experience the joy of hockey, and it's truly inspiring to see their confidence and skills grow with each practice and game.
We have a lot to cover so lets get to it.
From the Locker Room
From the Locker Room
At practices we have 2 locker rooms - Room 6 and Room 8. Please make sure to utilize both. We want to make sure everyone has space and isnt overwhelmed by the crowds or noise.
We ask that we keep the amount of parents assisting their child to a minimum. We have junior coaches who are there to assist. One of our goals is to try and make our players as independent as possible when getting ready to play.
Please make sure to leave hockey sticks outside the locker rooms against the wall.
To make things quick and easier in the locker rooms, try and come as dressed as posible. Base layer at minimum must be worn.
Families and friends watching the practices must stand in the area over near the cafe or upstairs in the stands. We need to keep the area in front of the locker rooms clear.

On August 22, 2026 we held the 2nd annual "Summer Draft" at Hobomock Arena. The money raised help pay the teams hotel rooms at Frankenfest in New Jersey! Thank you to all who came out and participated!
We are exploring potentially doing Crease Unleashed: All Goalie Game again this year. Before committing, we are wondering what level of interest there is AND if a business would be interested in sponsoring. If so, recommendations on what month may be best are welcome. We are also looking at a themed coaches game of some sort. Maybe some fun inflatable costumes? Open to all ideas here! Again, wondering if there is interest and potential sponsorship. Would love to chat with anyone on either idea if there is some interest to get some established annual signature events

If you have not paid your registration for the season, please do so as soon as possible. We can take cash, check, or venmo. If anyone is unable to pay, please email Sara Gatto (Treasurer) or Tara Thompson, to discuss options. All proceeds go back to the team. This is a 100% volunteer run program.
We have a website! Thank you to Nick Gatto for getting this up and running! https://www.southshoreicedragons.org
Along with that comes new emails. Please make sure to add *@southshoreicedragons.org to your spam filters. Email communications will be sent from there going forward.
We've setup a new donation platform, givebutter . This will also be used for registration payments in the future. Thank you to Brittney Toth for setting that up!

Fun Facts:
A hockey puck is made of rubber and is frozen before many games so it slides more smoothly on the ice!
Hockey players don’t actually need to be the fastest skaters to make a difference on the ice. Great teamwork, communication, and helping your teammates are just as important—and that’s what makes hockey such a special sport!
If you have something to share about your player that you would like to see in the newsletter, please send it along to info@southshoreicedragons.org
